Statement of Faith
1. The Bible. We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the verbally inspired, God-breathed Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete and final revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and life. Tradition is reliable and helpful only as far as it agrees with Scripture. (2 Sam. 22:31; Psa. 119:89; Prov. 30:5-6; Matt. 5:18; 1 Cor. 4:6; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; Rev. 22:18-19).
2. God. We believe that there is but one true God in all existence, in all places, and in all time. He is the Creator of all things, is ever loving, ever-present, transcendent, unchanging, infinitely perfect and eternally existing. God manifests Himself as a Trinity in three distinct and co-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Having limitless knowledge, sovereign power and exhaustive foreknowledge of all things both possible and actual, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory. (Gen. 17:1; Deut. 6:4; I Sam. 23:11-13; 2 Sam. 22:31; Psa. 46:1; Psa. 139; Isa. 46:10-13; Matt. 28:19; John 1:1-3; 2 Cor. 13:14; Heb. 4:13; 1 John 4:8-9).
3. Sin. We believe that man was created in the image of God, that man sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God, and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature. Further, we believe that God offers salvation, redemption and forgiveness freely through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Gen. 1:27; Gen. 3; Rom. 3:23; Rom. 5:12; Rom. 6:23; 1 Cor. 15:21-22; Eph. 2:3-10; 1 John 1:8; 1 John 3:4).
4. Jesus. We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the 2nd person of the Trinity, is presently true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and then was crucified on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, appeared to many, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High. He is now High Priest, Advocate and sole Mediator between God the Father and man. We believe that Jesus will come again to the earth – personally, visibly and bodily – to consummate history and the eternal plan of God. (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:20-23; Matt. 19:28; Luke 1:35; John 1:1,14; John 16:7-11; Acts 1:9; 1 Cor. 15:6; 2 Cor. 5:21; Phil. 2:5-11; 2 Tim. 2:8; Heb. 1:3, 4:15, 10:12).
5. Holy Spirit. We believe the Holy Spirit, the 3rd person of the Trinity, has a mind and will, and actively indwells all believers. He fills, renews, teaches, glorifies Jesus and convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. (John 16:8,13-14; Acts 4:13; Acts 5:3-4; Rom. 8:27; 1 Cor. 2:13; I Cor. 12:11; Eph. 4:30; 2 Tim 1:14, Tit. 3:5).
6. Salvation. We believe the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only grounds for justification and salvation for all people. This justification and salvation is obtained by grace through faith alone, not of works, for all who believe; and only such as receive Jesus Christ, by faith, are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God. ( John 1:12; John 5:28-29; John 11:25; John 14:6; Rom. 10:9-10; Eph. 1:7; Eph. 2:1-10).
7. Judgment. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead - of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and the unbeliever to judgment and eternal punishment. (Matt. 25:31-46, John 5:28-29; Eph. 2:1-10).
